Lace plays a prominent role in the craft traditions of Brazil, and a new exhibition in Sao Paulo curated by designer Renato Imbroisi, “Renda Brasileira,” is dedicated to the craft. I had a chance to talk to researcher and producer Silvia Sasaoka about the exhibition and influence of lace in Brazil. Sasaoka is also organizing a countrywide workshop with a dozen lace makers as part of the programming.
